Civil Partnership Train

A Dave Donnellan Film

Late in 2009 the gay civil rights group Changing Attitude Ireland took the unusual step of organising a train journey to highlight the issue of gay rights in the Republic. Currently the Republic lags behind the North in the area of gay rights as Civil Partnership is available in the North but not in the South. The group called it the Civil Partnership Train and director Dave Donnellan was there to record the event. As the train arrived at Connolly Station in Dublin some anti-gay rights protestors were ready with their bibles to express their abhorrence at the very idea of gay rights! Their protests were answered however by senator David Norris who was on hand to meet the train
