Drive In Movies with Lunaflicks in Kilkenny

The Underground Cinema team are delighted to be working with a new company called Lunaflicks and to be bringing the Drive In Cinema to one of the best festival county's in Ireland,  Kilkenny.


From July onwards Lunaflicks in association with Underground Cinema will be bringing you a fantastic selection of cult and classic movies throughout the year.  And we're not just stopping at the Drive In.  Our new location will mean that we will be able to host plenty of OutdoorMovie events throughout the year for all to enjoy

The Weather

The Drive In is weather dependent so it is advisable to keep an eye on our website for any adverse weather conditions that may result in a cancelled screening. It is wind that will cancel a Drive In screening more so then rain. You can keep an eye on weather conditions by checking out our weather widgets.  We will also post any adverse weather warnings on our website.   If a screening has to be cancelled due to adverse weather and you have purchased your ticket direct with Underground Cinema or Lunaflicks we will automatically refund your credit card

Summer Sesaon Films at the Drive In Cinema

In this 1980s sci-fi classic, small-town California teen Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) is thrown back into the '50s when an experiment by his eccentric scientist friend Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd) goes awry. Traveling through time in a modified DeLorean car, Marty encounters young versions of his parents (Crispin Glover, Lea Thompson), and must make sure that they fall in love or he'll cease to exist. Even more dauntingly, Marty has to return to his own time and save the life of Doc Brown.

Teenage Cady Heron (Lindsay Lohan) was educated in Africa by her scientist parents. When her family moves to the suburbs of Illinois, Cady finally gets to experience public school and gets a quick primer on the cruel, tacit laws of popularity that divide her fellow students into tightly knit cliques. She unwittingly finds herself in the good graces of an elite group of cool students dubbed "the Plastics," but Cady soon realizes how her shallow group of new friends earned this nickname.

Hotshot television anchorman Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell) welcomes upstart reporter Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate) into the male-dominated world of 1970s broadcast news -- that is, until the talented female journalist begins to outshine Burgundy on air. Soon he grows jealous, begins a bitter feud with Veronica and eventually makes a vulgar slip on live TV that ruins his career. However, when an outrageous story breaks at the San Diego Zoo, Ron may get a chance to redeem himself.

When a young woman is killed by a shark while skinny-dipping near the New England tourist town of Amity Island, police chief Martin Brody (Roy Scheider) wants to close the beaches, but mayor Larry Vaughn (Murray Hamilton) overrules him, fearing that the loss of tourist revenue will cripple the town. Ichthyologist Matt Hooper (Richard Dreyfuss) and grizzled ship captain Quint (Robert Shaw) offer to help Brody capture the killer beast, and the trio engage in an epic battle of man vs. nature.

Star Wars - The Force Awakens - Saturday August 27th at 9pm

Thirty years after the defeat of the Galactic Empire, the galaxy faces a new threat from the evil Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and the First Order. When a defector named Finn crash-lands on a desert planet, he meets Rey (Daisy Ridley), a tough scavenger whose droid contains a top-secret map. Together, the young duo joins forces with Han Solo (Harrison Ford) to make sure the Resistance receives the intelligence concerning the whereabouts of Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), the last of the Jedi Knights.
